Saturday, February 13th

Saturday, February 13, 2016, marks the 4th Annual Ellen’s Icebreaker for Cancer Research. This event began in 2013, during Ellen Smith’s year-long battle with gastric cancer. Ellen, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, lost her battle on October 20, 2013.

Since then, the event has grown to recognize not only Ellen’s amazing spirit, but also the spirit of all individuals who have been impacted by cancer. Donations collected during the event support the ELMS (Ellen Louise Mechling Smith) Fund. The goal of this fund is to sponsor research for cancer cure through The Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital’s Cancer Center.

Globally, cancer claims the lives of nearly 8 million people every year. Join us in taking the “plunge” into the icy, cold waters of Nagawicka Lake in Delafield, Wisconsin. Jump in honor of Ellen or a loved one who has battled cancer, and come support the efforts of remarkable research for a cure to cancer.
